Meet the voice behind the mic! We sat down with Drive105 presenter Grumpy Lawrence to chat about growing up on classic tunes, his dream superpowers, and why early morning radio will always have his heart.

What can listeners expect when tuning into your show, Grumpy Lawrence?
It's a complete mix of everything—great music, live interviews, sports updates, and a look at what's currently trending in the world. Plus, I always keep people on their toes with a few quiz questions and take plenty of requests!
What inspired you to get into radio presenting?
Growing up, we always had the radio playing in our house—music was far more important than the TV. I always wanted to be one of those DJs who soundtracked my childhood, so stepping into the studio was a natural fit.
What do you enjoy most about hosting?
It’s the ultimate way to express the music I love. I get to share songs I’ve discovered over years of obsessive listening and going to see live bands.
What’s your favourite type of show to host?
I really enjoy the early morning slots. Breakfast shows are easily the most iconic radio shows around. That said, if I wasn't doing my current show, I’d jump at the chance to host a dedicated sports show.
Any funny moments on air you can share?
Oh, definitely! Probably the time I delivered a full, high-energy intro to my show... only to realise the presenter before me had left the mic muted.
If you weren’t on the radio, what would you be doing?
Is it too late to apply for the Oscars host job?!
What about outside the studio—any hobbies or interests?
I’m a massive cycling fan and get out on the bike whenever I can. I also still like to think I can roll back the years on a football pitch—taking it back to the days when I played for Celtic... Donegal Celtic, that is!
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I’d want the ability to fly. Mostly because the price of flights these days is getting completely out of hand!
Finally, who is your all-time favourite artist?
I was brought up listening to Bruce Springsteen. I’ve seen him live over 10 times and even got the chance to meet and speak with him! Right now, I'm also really loving Sam Fender and Fontaines D.C.
